Soldier’s Attorney Willing to Turn to High Court

The attorney representing IDF Sgt. Hananel Dayan has called on the military to reverse its decision to throw Dayan out of his brigade, warning he will take the matter to the Supreme Court.

Dayan was expelled after refusing to shake IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Dan Halutz’s hand at the Independence Day awards ceremony in the President’s Residence where Dayan was cited for his exemplary performance.

Attorney Adi Keidar stated “shaking a hand is not a military order,” adding, “The soldier complied with directives and there is no justification for taking action against him.”
