Report: Diskin Promised Abbas Prisoner Exchange

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas resumed talks with Hamas over the release of IDF Cpl. Gilad Shalit who was abducted from Israel to Gaza some four weeks ago, it was reported on Friday.
The Palestinian London-based Al Hayat al-Jadeeda reported that Shin Bet (Internal Security Agency) committed to Abbas some two weeks ago that if Shalit were to be released, then Israel would release a large number of Palestinian prisoners “without blood on their hands.”

Recognized that this is but a report and from an Arab source at that, but after all of deceptions on such issues, and all of broken pledges throught the years on a myriad of issues by this and preceding regimes, can one help being cynical of anything the Olmrt regime say or does? And Ehud, how could you be going behind the people’s backs to appease yet again, after all of YOUR high-sounding verbiasge and “promises” of your Knesset speech of just a few days ago.
