Parsha Mikeitz/Shabbos Chanukah 5769: The Miracle Cure of Yosef’s Marriage

.

Moshe Burt

In previous years, this author has written about Yosef’s being thrown in a bor (pit) seething with snakes and scorpions — yet emerging unscathed, his being sold and ensuing journey to Mitzrayim and his slavery, his imprisonment and his liberation and ascendency to the position of Viceroy, second only to Pharoh. And this author wrote a vort based on Jay Shapiro’s book “Almost Midrash.” Shapiro encorporated the story of Yosef into a fictional story entitled “Duaf of Memphis” and this author dealt with the contrast of Yosef in Mitzrayim, the years after Yosef and the other brothers were niftar, the ensuing long period of cruel bondage; and persecution and the dialogue of Page 13 A & B of Gemora Megillah Esther (the dialogue between Achashveirosh and Haman resulting in the evil decree against the Jews). The point of the Torah Vort at that time was that with longevity in Shushan and throughout Achashveirosh’s Empire, as in Mitzrayim, the Jews were disparaged as either useless or too powerful. In both cases, the antagonists conveniently forgot about Yosef and the Jews got comfortable, complacent, sought to own property and saw where they were at the time as home and forgetting and losing track of who and what they are. read more

Bibi’s Denigration of Democracy in Likud

.

Commentary;

Jerusalem Post writer Evelyn Gordon, while not mentioning Moshe Feiglin, Manhigut Yehudit and their specific post-primary travails at Benjamin Netanyahu’s hands in her commentary, takes the Likud Leader to task for not backing the democratic achievement of Likud primary voters, but rather [her word] undermining it.

More precisely, this author will go so far as to categorize Bibi’s cutting, pasting and switching the Likud Knesset list after the Primaries as negation of the achievements of his party and of Likud voters. Further, Gordon unfairly praises Bibi for achievements made by the party in hammering together the primary process — achievements made not because of Netanyahu, but despite him. MB read more

Bibi’s Travelling Ballot Boxes: Confirmation of Referendum2

.

Commentary;

Isn’t there something blatantly and absurdly anti-democratic about travelling ballot boxes being driven around in rented cars, lacking polling place judges, therefore with the ability to tamper with ballots for lack of supervisory oversight and only going to those who Bibi knows support him?

It seems obvious that Netanyahu has made a mockery of the primary and of the will of Likud party voters. Bibi’s latest maneuver has reduced the Likud primary to nothing more than a second delegitimized Referendum vote. MB read more
