Israel’s Homefront: How Beit Shemesh is Helping Fellow Jews From South Israel

.
Ten days ago, Lema’an Achai’s David Morris sent an email around with this catchy title:

“Dad, What’s a Killer-meter?”

Six Days ago, David wrote this piece which has appeared on Shilomusings and a number of other blogs;

Today I met with Ariel Yered. He’s nine years old this week. He was sitting in a class of enthusiastic kids from Shomria, now relocated to the Ramat Bet Shemesh Community Center.He’s a small blond kid, frail looking, with glasses. There’s a teacher at the front of the class, and another teacher with Ariel, sitting by his side. read more

Tactic: CALL White House Main Switchboard 202-456-1414 for Jonathan Pollard

J4JPnews – January 12, 2009

After being swamped with calls last week, and even after hiring a pack of new operators to handle the volume, the White House phone lines were still overwhelmed at close of business on Friday.

J4JP has just learned that the White House plans to ‘restore order’, discouraging calls about Jonathan Pollard, by announcing that it is closing down comment lines until after the inauguration of the next President on

Is Olmert Setting Up Israel for Imposed Ceasefire?

.
Commentary:

Is the Olmert, Livni, Barak troika setting up Israel for a premature acceptance of a ceasefire short of achieving the goals of Operation Cast Lead?

Among those goals were understood to be destruction of Hamas’ terrorist capabilities, setting in place a fool-proof mechanism to prevent weapons smuggling and to prevent rebuilding of a terrorist capability as well as the liberation of Gilad Shalit?

What about the destruction of Hamas’ terror capabilities? What about assuring that a teror capability never again arises? What about security for the towns, moshavim and large urban centers of southern Israel? Is Gilad Shalit about to be abandoned? read more

Parsha Shemos 5769: The Evolution of Jewish Enslavement — Then and Now(?)

.

By Moshe Burt

To sufficiently comprehend the evolution of the enslavement of B’nai Yisrael in Mitzriyim, it would seem that one needs to comprehend the closed nature of the two preceding Parshiyot; the concluding posuk of Vayigash;

“And Yisrael dwelt in the land of Mitzriyim in the land of Goshen, and they acquired property in it and… multiplied greatly.”

and the first posuk of Vayechi;

And Yaakov lived in the land of Mitzrayim for seventeen years…

We need to understand the gist of the Kli Yekar; that the Sh’vatim, the Am, knowing that they were to be in Mitzriyim for a definite period of time beyond their lifetimes thus perceived a permanence. Therefore, they adapted themselves to living in Mitzriyim long-term and were thus vulnerable to Mitzri “encouragement” to melt, to assimilate into Mitzri society, to work for the nation, etc. The B’nai Yisrael accumulated land, assets, wealth. With the passage of time and with Yaakov and the brothers — the tribal heads all passing from the scene, the Am forgot about their true home in Canaan, in Eretz Yisrael, and became complacent in Mitzriyim. And with the passing of heads of B’nai Yisrael, the Am no longer retained an elevated status in the eyes of the Mitzriyim who quickly forgot how Yosef saved them from famine. read more

Commentary;

This blog asked a few days ago if the Israeli government will squander the IDF’s Gaza War achievements. Events on the diplomatic front continued to show strong indications that Israel’s Troika of Olmert, Livni and Barak are close to doing just that, wasting the degradation of Hamas’ capabilities, the lives of the 9 fatalities and more on a ceasefire based on international forces in Gaza — a rerun of Lebanon.

So concerned are IDF’s defense establishment officials that Ynet’s Hanan Greenberg reports that they have warned; read more

Monday War News: Operation Cast Lead — Day 10 — Will Israeli Government Squander Possible IDF Achievements?

.

Commentary;

IMRA’s Dr. Aaron Lerner notes that the current regime, the Olmert, Livni, Barak Troika are aiming to emulate, in Gaza, the Lebanon cease-fire model which columnist Caroline Glick recently described.

Dr. Lerner cites Roni Sofer’s report; Israel Examining International Treaty to Isolate Hamas which follows up his (Sofer’s) report of Sunday, noted on this blog, where he lists Olmert’s conditions to end the conflict.

Lerner comments;

There is a fairly straightforward explanation for PM Olmert’s interest in an international force: The Olmert-Livni team adamantly claims that the Second Lebanon War was a fantastic success because it concluded with the introduction of the grossly ineffective international force…. They thus see their reputations tied to the validity of using international forces. read more
