Yishai Promised Olmert NOT to Leave Over Jerusalem Talks

.

Commentary;

If Shas thinks that they made a deal of any kind at any level with Ehud Olmert — they need to think again. The community of Givat Ze’ev [a decision and “promise” easily reversed], the NIS 450 million to [Shas] yeshivas, the bill enabling municipalities to transfer funding to Shas schools and more will never materialize.

Even Meretz MK Haim Oron termed Olmert’s “promises” to Shas “hot air.” While Shas thinks that they have won great, unprecendented victories, the final result will be empty; that Shas will be left holding a slew of rubber checks while they will have facilitated the division of Jerusalem and grievous damage to Israel, by their continued presence in an evil, immoral, anti-Jewish government. Shas Concedes Jerusalem Talks Took Place, Despite Threat?

.

Commentary;

Eli Yishai and the Shas party are looking more foolish, inept and incapable by the day.

Yishai has repeatedly promised to topple Olmert and his coalition the moment that they begin trying to bargain away Yerushalayim. R’ Ovadia Yoseph has mandated this promise.

Despite all of Ehud Olmert’s deceit and broken promises, Shas continues to remain in the Olmert government.

Now we find Yishai making a grievously ridiculous statement;

“…If negotiations on Jerusalem continue, Shas will immediately leave the government.” read more

Shas Talks on Joining Livni Government: Jerusalem Not Necessarily Red Line?

Commentary;

Is there anything at all new under the sun? We’ve known the FACTS regarding Shas’ Jerusalem priority, or lack thereof, for over six months. MB

Shas Negotiating Attorney Indicates Jerusalem Not Necessarily Red Line, Dr. Aaron Lerner Date: 17 October 2008 (IMRA)

Full Text;

In a live interview broadcast during the noon news program today of Israel Radio, Attorney David Glass, who is negotiating with representatives of FM Livni on behalf of the Shas party, explained that should a deal be reached with Livni for Shas to join her ruling coalition and the agreement does not preclude negotiations over Jerusalem with the Palestinians that the decision to accept the deal would be left up to the Shas Council of Sages and Rabbi Yosef. read more

The Secret US-Israeli Agreement on East Jerusalem

Bibi’s infamous Yes vote for the expulsion of our Gush Katif brethren.

This blog has closely observed prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s public reactions to the tirades of US president Obama and secretary of state Clinton in the aftermath of licensure for building in Ramat Shlomo. Among Netanyahu’s public statements have been declarations that construction in Jerusalem will continue and that Jerusalem will remain undivided .

But inside Israel, and inside the prime minister’s own party, people have been questioning whether Netanyahu can be taken at his word, particularly in light of the Likud central committee vote coming on Thursday regarding whether or not the Likud constitution will be changed as to scheduling when central committee elections will be held. The make-up of the Likud central committee appears to have a profound impact on the prime minister’s diplomatic policy decisions. read more

Friday War News: Following IDF Withdrawal, Hamas Seizes Gaza Tunnels; Moslem Rioters Throw Rocks, Molotovs at IDF in Hevron, Rock Attack Near Bethlehem, Firebombers on Jerusalem-Hevron Road

.

Commentary;

The Q and A session Jerusalem Post held with Former National Security Adviser Maj.-Gen. (res.) Giora Eiland dispels any illusions anyone might still have regarding the reliability of Egyptian or, for that matter, any third nation forces regarding the security of Israel and her citizens. But with 2 1/2 weeks to national elections, it seems that neither Livni, Barak, nor Bibi for that matter, have come to grips with this cold reality.

As stated in this post from the IRIS blog:

The bottom line is that history shows clearly that Israel can depend on no other country, or group of countries, for her national security but must rely solely on her own military for her security. read more

Sunday War News: Operation Cast Lead Ends Inconclusively With Israeli Unilateral Ceasefire Amidst Hamas Rocket Barrages; Terrorists Nabbed in Hevron, Shechem, Arabs Attack Police with Stones, Firebombs in Jerusalem

.
Commentary;

For context, last Thursday, this blog posted a piece; Gaza Operations: For Naught for Lack of Will to Win?

And so, these comments by Moshe Feiglin beare repeating as they best express the Israeli political governing mindset;

If Israel cannot define a real goal for this war, it cannot win. All the IDF’s professionalism and the arduous training with which the new Chief of Staff has equipped the army are ineffective if Israel’s leaders cannot define the goal of the fighting. He who cannot define the goal cannot win. And if you can’t win – it is best not to start fighting. read more

Israel’s Humiliation: Regime Tolerates Truce Violations for Shalit Talks

.
Commentary;

This is what happens when an Israeli government has a delusive, appeasing, supplicational, surrenderous mindset before it’s Islamic enemies who are sworn to her destruction. This is the result of governance which holds its governed hostage by tolerating Kassam and mortar barrages and by its freeing thousands of bloody-handed terrorists to kill more Jews, in exchange for Israeli captives; be they dead or alive. There are limits to Pidyon Sh’vuyim; national security, national defense and deterrence and Kiddush Hashem being but a few. MB read more

PMO: Indirect Talks Being Held ‘Under the Auspices of Turkey’

Excerpts;

The Prime Minister’s Office, in a dramatic announcement,…. “Israel and Syria have begun indirect peace talks with the Syrians, under the auspices of Turkey,”Syria and Israel have agreed to carry out the dialogue in a serious and continuous manner with the aim of reaching a comprehensive peace within the framework set up at the Madrid Conference.

One of the issues Turkey is trying to work out between Israel and Syria as a prelude to direct negotiations is whether a Syrian announcement of ending support for terrorism needs to precede an Israeli guarantee that it will withdraw from the Golan Heights in exchange for peace, Western diplomats said in late April. read more

“Religious” Parties: Connect Hametz With G.K., Jerusalem Division, More?

.

==

Commentary;

MK Rabbi Avraham Ravitz and Chief Ashkenazi Rabbi Yonah Metzger have both spoken out against legalized sale of Hametz anywhere in Israel during Pesach. Rabbi Metzger went so far as to connect successive regimes’-sponsored decline [or disintegration] of Jewish values with decline in performance of reserve duty which the generals and commanders attribute to erosion of reservists’ value system.

Are the so-called “religious” parties, and their Rabbis, able to connect all the dots between legalized Hametz sale during pesach and the expulsion of Jews from Gush Katif, the division of Jerusalem going on as we speak, attempts to evict the residents of Shalom House in Hevron and the contemplated eviction of 100,000 more Jews of Yesha disguised as bogus “peace” Talks? read more

From the Horse’s Mouth: Livni: Jerusalem on the Table

.
Commentary;

One must question whether this report is even eligible for posting on this blog as it is axiomatic that the Olmert regime has been dividing Jerusalem since prior to day 1 of Annapolis.

But perhaps, this short report is notable for the very reason stated above. Further, it keeps us focused on the FACTS that Shas knowingly remains in a government which, by it’s active role in dividing Jerusalem, signifies that it actively craves the division and eradication of Jewishness from Israelis. In the end, unless Shas leaves the government, it will eventually fulfill its own self-fulfilling prophesy, as noted by Dr Aaron Lerner of IMRA, whereby “for ‘pikuach nefesh’ (life endangering situation) Israel has to cut a deal on Jerusalem at all costs.” read more
