Commentary;

As the Israel Air Force continues blasting away on day 3 of ‘Cast Lead’, Kassam and mortar hits on Ashkelon, Ashdod and the Negev mount up as do Jewish casualties. Are we witnessing a replay of Lebanon 2006? Defense Minister Ehud Barak is quoted as stating that this is “all-out war” with Hamas, a “war to the bitter end.”

Remember those words if or when the same electioneering opportunistic ploysters Ehud Barak and Tzipy Livni spin a repeat of the Lebanon conflict results, imposed ceasefire in Gaza with international forces to further obstruct Israel’s sovereignty and self-defense. MB read more

Jews Violently Denied Access to Kever Rachel Under False Pretense

.

Commentary;

As has repeatedly occurred in the past, police again seem to be denying Jews access to pray at Rachel’s Tomb in the days leading up to Tisha B’av, ostensibly under the guise of a “security situation.”

It would seem highly likely that the government, through permitting Arabs to reside in proximity to the Kever and then walling it in to facilitate attempting to close down access or, to enable turning access on and off at will, are attempting to create a self-fulfilling prophecy of creating conditions (i.e. fear of visiting the Kever and it’s resultant neglect) for a repetition of the regime’s previous Kever Yosef abandonment. On Rachel Emeinu’s Yahrtzeit: How MK Meir Porush Saved Kever Rachel

.

Commentary;

For previous posts on Kever Rachel, click here. If only Arabs had been denied free access to the area bordering the Kever complex, perhaps then the walling, isolation and difficulty of Jewish access to the Kever initiated by Sharon and further implemented by Olmert would not be. MB

Former MK Hanan Porat spoke to Arutz Sheva on Wednesday, describing the importance of Rachel’s Tomb (Kever Rachel) to the Jewish people and expressing regret that Israeli control in Bethlehem is limited. Porat remembered how he and MK Meir Porush (UTJ) convinced then-Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin to keep Rachel’s Tomb under Jewish control during the Oslo Accords, after Rabin had promised control of the area to former Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat. read more

3 Women Beaten, Arrested, Released After Protesting Restricted Access to Kever Rachel, Proving Ineffectiveness of “Security Fence”

Arrested Land of Israel Activists Released on Bail

Full Text;

Jerusalem police released on bail three women arrested earlier on Wednesday for breaching the security fence surrounding the Tomb of Rachel in Bethlehem.

The three Land of Israel activists, including the wife of Kiryat Arba Mayor Tzvi Katzover, were arrested when they took part in an effort by 200 people to reach Rachel’s Tomb on foot. Dozens of youth managed to breach the fence and enter the sanctified site, exemplifying one of the messages of their protest – that fences are no security solution. The protesters were confronted by police and IDF soldiers, who failed to prevent the breach. read more

Ongoing Nightmare at Kever Rachel: Is it Easier to Get to Uman than to the 3600 Year Old Jewish Holy site, Rachel’s Tomb, in Israel?

This is a crucial question and the perspective is a personal one, and so this blog will dispense with the usual third-person convention — “this author.” I’ve agonized on this ongoing story for months, out of concern for the welfare of those involved at the Kever Rachel complex, so as to not further jeopardize what is already a problematic situation with the regime and out of concern for the future of the various planned outreach progams to teach Israelis about what Ima Rachel means to the Jewish people. read more
